Former Raider named top defensive outfielder in farm system
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – In his first season of minor league baseball, former Blue Raider Ronnie Jebavy, a 2015 fifth round draft pick, is already standing out within the San Francisco Giants organization.
Baseball America selected Jebavy as the top defensive outfielder within the Giants' farm system.
"It's surprising being my first year but it's a great honor," Jebavy said. "There are a lot of great outfielders in our organization and to be recognized like this in such a short period of time is very rewarding. Now I've just got to keep going out and working hard every day like I have been."
The Murfreesboro native spent the 2015 season with the Giants' Low-A affiliate, the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes, where he started 63 games in center field and recorded only three errors in 144 chances.
Jebavy hit .263 in his professional debut while racking up 10 doubles, four triples, eight home runs, 44 runs and 30 RBIs. He also swiped 23 bases in 27 attempts.
"It's a great honor for Ronnie to be recognized as one of their top defensive outfielders in his first season," Middle Tennessee head coach Jim McGuire said. "I think the Giants organization is seeing what we all know, which is that he is major league ready in the outfield, he just needs to keep his bat going to progress through the organization."
