IRVING, Texas – Conference USA Commissioner Judy MacLeod announced the 14 student-athletes that will receive the C-USA Fall Spirit of Service Award today. Quarterback Brent Stockstill represented Middle Tennessee on the list of honorees.
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport.
During his time as a Blue Raider, Stockstill has been involved with or volunteered time for Camp Ability, the Special Olympics, Relay For Life, Blue Autism Saddle Up, Recess with Raiders, Reading with Raiders, Junior Raiders youth football clinics, Raiders Rally, Paint the Town Blue, Alpha Chi Omega Domestic Violence Awareness, Trunk or Treat and Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month.
The Murfreesboro native and C-USA Freshman of the Year totaled 3,678 passing yards on 301 completions, with 27 passing touchdowns and two rushing TDs. He also had four consecutive and seven total 300-yard passing games.
In his stellar freshman campaign, Stockstill set a new C-USA freshman passing record and broke several Middle Tennessee passing records to help lead the team to the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl.
A leisure, sport and tourism studies major, Stockstill also excels in the classroom and is a current member of the Dean's List.
Out of 14 honorees across the conference, Stockstill was one of only four football honorees, joining Florida Atlantic's Greg Joseph, Louisiana Tech's Josh Gaston and UTSA's Aron Taylor.
