Brooks and Zirilli to join Blue Raiders
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee's women's tennis team will add two more to its spring 2016 roster with the arrival of Maddie Brooks and Luisa Zirilli.
Brooks, hailing from Norfolk, England, will join the team in January. She took home the U14 doubles championship at Wimbledon and was a runner up two times at the British National Championships. Brooks is also a strong singles player, as she was ranked as high as eighth in the U18 British National rankings and was part of the Norfolk Ladies team that gained promotion to Division 1 in the National County Cup earlier this year.
Another new Blue Raider is Zirilli. The Messina, Italy native is proudest of the national championships she has won in her age group. She is also among the top ranked players in her age group in Italy.
The pair fills head coach Charlie Ramsay's need to have a strong doubles foundation, while also emphasizing the singles portion of the matches.
MT will begin its spring 2016 campaign at the Adams Tennis Complex on Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. against Belmont. The Blue Raiders are also proud to be hosting the Conference USA Championships on April 21-24.
