MT concludes Vanderbilt Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - On the final day of the Vanderbilt Invitational, Middle Tennessee captured six finishes in the top five at the Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility, while Eliud Rutto placed second at the Camel City Invitational on the famed JDL Fast Track.
In Winston Salem, North Carolina, Eliud Rutto finished second in the 800 meter behind Nike runner Brandon Johnson. Johnson finished in 1:49.28, while Rutto earned his second-place spot in 1:49.51.
On the women's side, Agnes Abu claimed the highest finish for the Blue Raiders, placing second in the 800 meter. Abu raced to second with a personal-best time of 2:08.91. Teammate Shaina Johnson finished 18th in 2:25.97.
Abu and Johnson along with Taylor Day and Loveth Odia claimed fourth in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing in 3:47.31.
In the 3,000, three Blue Raiders finished in the top 10 with Josphine Kiptebeny leading the way with her third-place finish in 9:42.97. Gladys David and Hannah Maina finished 6th (9:45.92) and 7th (9:47.11), respectively.
For the men, Sampson Laari earned the highest finish for Middle Tennessee, placing fourth in the 800 meter (1:50.93).
Geoffry Cheruiyot claimed the second highest finish for the men's squad, finishing fifth with a personal-best time of 8:15.67 in the 3,000 meter.
Middle Tennessee continues competition Feb. 6 by hosting the Middle Tennessee Invitational.
