MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee hopes to split its Conference USA weekend with a win on Snuday as it hosts FIU at Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium in a 1:00 p.m. contest.
The Blue Raiders and Panthers have met 18 times in the history of the programs as Middle holds an 11-6-1 record against FIU all-time. MT has won the last two meetings between the two teams and 10 out of the least 11 while also winning seven-consecutive matches against FIU in Murfreesboro.
Middle Tennessee (3-6-1) is coming off of a defensive struggle against Florida Atlantic Friday night that saw the Raiders fall 1-0 in regulation. Freshman goalkeeper Sydney Chalcraft logged six saves in the contest but the Blue Raider offense was unable to convert any of their 15 shot attempts to even the score.
Salera Jordan has a team-leading five goals and 35 shots on the year with 18 attempts on frame while Abbie Brown has four goals for the Blue Raiders to go with two assists. Senior Courteney Gibson leads the team in assists with four after picking up assists in back-to-back appearances against UAB and UTSA.
FIU enters Sunday's match sporting a 1-7-2 record and is 0-2-1 in conference play. The Panthers have struggled to score goals this season, totaling just four through 10 contests and has failed to find the back of the net in each of the last three contests.
Alyssa Robinson leads the Panthers offensively with three goals including one game winner and also leads the team in shots (18) and shots on goal (8).
Panther goalkeeper Sophia Trujillo has played every minute in net for the Panthers in 2016, collecting 51 saves and a pair of shutouts on the year while allowing 20 goals.
