Women’s tennis dominates Steve Baras Fall Classic

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis swept the first day of the Steve Baras Fall Classic and completed the event on Saturday by dominating doubles and taking two of four singles matches from Chattanooga.

The Blue Raiders swept the first day of competition, which included singles play against SIU and Kennesaw State. Costanza Magazzini, Marta Peris Herrero and Sarah Sediri each earned straight set victories over the Salukis, while Alory Pereira completed the sweep of SIU with a victory in a match-tiebreaker.

Pereira and Magazzini dominated in doubles over Victoria Beirao and Meagan Monaghan from SIU, 6-2.

MT squared off in singles against Kennesaw State on Friday afternoon, as all four Blue Raiders earned straight set victories over the Owls.

Day two of competition started off with the Blue Raiders and Chattanooga competing in doubles. Pereira and Magazzini started off strong and earned a 6-3 win to open the second day. The pair earned a 6-2 victory over Kennesaw State later in the day.

The Blue Raiders and Mocs split singles action, with Magazzini taking a straight set victory over Delaney Edwards of Chattanooga, while Herrero won in a match-tiebreaker.

Next up for MT is the Vanderbilt Fall Invitational Oct. 7-9.
