Middle Tennessee set to host rival WKU

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — After a tough setback against Rice Friday night, Middle Tennessee seeks to rebound as rival WKU comes to Murfreesboro for a Sunday afternoon showdown.
Sunday's first serve is set for 1 p.m. with the match being broadcast on beIN Sports Connect. Sunday will also serve as Student and Greek Life Appreciation Day, and the first 100 fans to Sunday's contest will receive a pair of sunglass straps.
The Raiders and Hilltoppers have met 54 times on the court, with WKU holding a 39-15 advantage. WKU has also taken the previous six matches in the series.
Dora Peonia led the Blue Raiders (4-12, 1-2) in their last outing against the Owls. The freshman tallied nine kills and hit at a .316 clip in the 3-0 loss.
Libero Meg Irvin tallied nine digs on defense and has recorded a kill in each of the last three matches.
WKU (15-2, 3-0) enters AMG on a six-match winning streak after a sweep at LA Tech Friday night. The Hilltoppers are led by Alyssa Cavanaugh with 265 kills and tallies 4.34 kills per set, and setter Jessica Lucas is instrumental in running the offense with 633 asssits and dishes out 11.72 assists per set.
Following Sunday's match, the Blue Raiders return to the road as they travel to Tennessee State Wednesday before the second C-USA road trip of the season at LA Tech and FIU next weekend.
