GoBlueRaiders.com will conduct a series of Q&A features with newcomers to the 2016-17 Blue Raider men's basketball team. Today's feature is freshman guard Tyrik Dixon from Bentonville, Ark.
GBR.com: What are your expectations for the 2016-17 season, your first as a Blue Raider?
TD: I just want us to have a great year as a team, get back to the NCAA Tournament and of course win our conference tournament.
GBR.com: What's been the biggest difference between workouts here and workouts in high school?
TD: Really just the competitiveness and the reps. You have to have perfect reps every time. You can't go slow or go half-speed and you have to be exact every time.
GBR.com: What excites you the most about this upcoming season?
TD: We have a great group of people on this team who really want to win.
GBR.com: With you coming out of the state of Arkansas, what drew you to Middle Tennessee?
TD: My visit. I knew JaCorey [Williams] before I came here and I got to chill with him on the visit and they had a great year last year.
GBR.com: What's the biggest difference between Bentonville, Ark. and Murfreesboro?
TD: Nothing really, Tennessee and Arkansas are a lot alike. Probably where I'm from, Murfreesboro is a little bit bigger but other than that it's the same kind of area.
GBR.com: Do you have a nickname on the team?
TD: They tried to call me "Little Reggie" [Upshaw], but we're not going with that.
GBR.com: Who's the funniest guy on the team?
TD: Me.
GBR.com: Do you have any hidden talents?
TD: I'm a greak [NBA] 2k player.
GBR.com: Who's your team in 2k?
TD: I like to beat Giddy [Potts] with the Thunder, while he uses LeBron.
GBR.com: Who's your favorite NBA player and why?
TD: Kyrie Irving by far, I like how he plays.
