60 students registered for this year’s clinic
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis head coach Jimmy Borendame and women's tennis head coach Charlie Ramsay partnered with Murfreesboro City Schools Wednesday to put on a free clinic at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.
The clinic lasted an hour and a half, and around 60 kids in grades 2-6 were registered. Members of the MT teams and coaching staffs were also on hand to help out and work with the children in small groups.
The kids were introduced to the art of serving, volleying, forehand, backhand and footwork drills.
"We've put this clinic on for Murfreesboro City Schools for a few years now, and it's always been a great experience for the students and also for us," Borendame said.
"The tennis community is so good to us throughout our seasons, so it's great for us to be able to give back to the community by teaching these young kids our great game," Ramsay added.
The men's and women's tennis teams will be back in action Oct. 20-24 with the ITA Regionals. The Adams Tennis Complex will host the women's Ohio Valley Regional, while the men's team will travel to Knoxville to compete in their regional tournament.
