Six Raiders Earn NFCA Scholar-Athlete Awards

2015-16 Division I NFCA All-American Scholar-Athletes
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Six members of the Middle Tennessee softball program were named as 2015-16 All-American Scholar-Athletes when the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its full list of honorees.
Blue Raider alumnae Kelci Cheney and Megan Griffith earned the honor while current players Morgan Harris, Payton Grove, Lauren Riddell and Kristin Uselton were each honored by the NFCA for their work in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year. The recognition is earned by holding a GPA of 3.5 or higher throughout the full school year.
"Academics our huge in our program," head coach Jeff Breeden said. "We had a team GPA last year of 3.4 so our kids do a great job in the classroom. This is a tremendous honor for those six and for this program. It's a real testament to how hard they work off the field in addition to on the field."
In his first four seasons at the helm, Breeden has had 26 players named NFCA All-American Scholar-Athletes. Seven athletes earned the honor in 2014-15 including Cheney, Harris, Riddell and Uselton.
The NFCA honored a total of 5,152 student-athletes in high school and across all levels of college, with 1,240 honorees coming from the NCAA Division I ranks.
