MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After a three-game road stretch, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders return to Alumni Memorial Gym for homecoming weekend to host the UTSA Roadrunners Friday night.
First serve for Friday's match is slated for 7 p.m. as part of Alumni Appreciation Night. MT's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will also be on hand to collect donations for the Conference USA Food Drive, benefitting MTSU's Student Food Pantry.
The Blue Raiders (4-16, 1-5) return home after dropping a trio of road matches against Tennessee State, LA Tech and FAU last weekend. Despite the road setbacks, freshman Aubrie Huddleston and junior Jacqueline Lux provided career-outings throughout the week.
Huddleston continued her offensive success by tallying 31 kills and hit at a .225 clip for the week. The Huntsville, Ala. native tallied a career-best 17 kills, including her 100th kill for the season, against LA Tech.
Lux set a career-high 46 assists against in-state rival Tennessee State, and then matched the effort two nights later with 46 helpers at LA Tech. The junior dished out 111 assists throughout the week and sits seventh in the conference with 8.51 assists per set. Lux is also just 217 assists and 38 digs away from reaching a career 1,000 for each category.
Defensively, Delaney Gallagher leads the way with 41 total blocks and forces opponents out of rhythm with a team-best 17 service aces.
UTSA (12-4, 3-1) split a pair of matches last weekend, beginning with a win at UTEP before dropping a five-set thriller at Marshall. Dajana Boskovic sits atop the league in kills with 4.66 per set, which is also tied for 10th in the country. Setter Jessica Waldrip adds 10.03 assists per set and ranks second on the team with 20 service aces.
UTSA leads the all-time series 3-2, including a 2-1 ledger in Murfreesboro. MT seeks its first win against the Roadrunners since a Blue Raider 3-0 sweep in 2013.
Following Friday's action, Middle Tennessee returns to the road to close the weekend against Charlotte. Sunday's action against the 49ers is set for a 12 p.m. CT first serve.
