Midweek bout kicks off four-match home stand
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – In the final non-conference action of the season, Middle Tennessee hosts former OVC foe Austin Peay Wednesday night at Alumni Memorial Gym to start a four-match home stand.
The midweek matchup is slated for a 7 p.m. first serve and will be broadcast on CUSA.TV. Wednesday's match will also be the annual Dig Pink night in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Middle Tennessee and Austin Peay have met 45 times on the court. Although the Governors hold a 34-11 lead in the series, MT won the last two matchups in 2013.
The Blue Raiders (5-17, 2-6) return to Murfreesboro following a thrilling five-set victory at Charlotte Sunday afternoon. Five Raiders turned in career highs, while also tallying team season-bests for a match with 70 kills and 101 digs.
Jacqueline Lux continued her success in running the Raider offense with a career-high 54 assists. The junior now sits just 15 digs and 117 assists away from a career-1,000 in each category.
Austin Peay (16-7, 7-1) sits atop the OVC standings and enters Wednesday with a five-match winning streak. Most recently, the Governors swept Jacksonville State and Tennessee Tech in straight sets over the weekend.
Ashley Slay leads the team with 237 kills and 3.16 kills per set, while also hitting at a .297 clip. Defensively, Slay has tallied 79 of the squad's 142 total blocks. Ginny Gerig defends the Governor back court with 257 digs.
