The 1st Game of the 5-Game Series Will Start at 3 p.m.
Blue-White Rosters
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders are set for the Blue-White World Series beginning Friday at 3 p.m. after completing all 10 of their fall scrimmages.
The rosters are set and the competition will be fierce, as starting spots are still up for grabs, according to Head Coach Jim McGuire.
"We're still looking at a lot of different combinations, to try and get the right nine guys on the field, especially from an offensive standpoint," said McGuire. "But also, we're looking at what those guys can do defensively, so we need to evaluate that aspect as well."
The annual five-game series will consist of three, seven inning games, followed by two, nine inning games to close out the series.
"There's a little bit more on the line than the scrimmages that we've had so far this fall," said McGuire. "We want to make it as realistic and competitive as a spring game."
The players take great pride in competing against each other in the series, as last year's World Series went to the deciding fifth game, with White taking the series in a 16-5 win.
So far this fall, the Blue Raider seniors have stepped up in a big way, with five of the seven top batting averages being held by the senior class. Specifically, Kaleb King and Will Schnure have swung the bat well, hitting over .400 through 10 scrimmages.
On the mound, senior Cody Puckett has been magnificent for Middle Tennessee, fanning a team-high 19 batters in just 10-2/3 innings of work.
"I'm really pleased with our seniors, with how they've come in and approached fall ball," said McGuire. "I'm most happy with their leadership, even more so than what the stat sheet shows, they know what they have to do to lead this team."
AJ Spencer will get the start for the Blue team game one Friday, while Carson Lester will get the nod for the White team.
