Blue-White World Series Game 3 Ends In 3-3 Tie

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—White a made comeback in the fourth inning, to force the 3-3 tie against Blue in Game 3 of the Blue-White World Series at Reese Smith Field Monday afternoon.
For the third straight game, Blue struck first, putting up a three spot in the top of the first inning. Riley Delgado started the two-out rally with a single scorched up the middle. Sophomore Blake Benefield followed with a single of his own to score Delgado on the next play. Phillip Kunsa kept the scoring going with an RBI-single of his own, part of his 2-for-3 day. Freshman Grant Williams put the Blue team up 3-0, with a hard hit RBI-single to the shortstop.
White answered in the bottom half of the frame, with a Ryan Kemp RBI-single to center field, part of a 2-for-4 effort on the day, bringing around Drew Huff to cut the lead to 3-1. White struck again in the fourth, with freshman Aaron Antonini smacking a two-RBI single to right field.
Fantastic pitching from both sides closed out the game. For White, it was senior Will Small pitching an outstanding game in relief, hurling four innings, allowing no runs and only giving up one hit, in his first appearance of the series.
Sophomore transfer Tyler Holcombe, pitched two scoreless innings for Blue at the end, holding the score at 3-3 with White threatening.
Four Blue Raiders ended the game with two hits. Leadoff hitter, Austin Dennis went 2-for-5, while Huff hit 2-for-4 with a run for White. Huff is tied for the top batting average on either side, hitting .444.
Kunsa continued his hot-hitting in the series today, and leads the series in RBI (5), while also tying with Huff for the top batting average at .444.
Blue now leads the series 2-0-1, through the first three games. Games 4 and 5 will be nine inning contests.
Two, two-way players will get the start on the mound in Game 4 as Grant Williams will start for Blue, while Devin Conn will be on the mound for White. First pitch is set for Friday at 3 p.m. at Reese Smith Jr. Field.
