Raiders shave 11 strokes off of day one score

Gotcher, Long in Top 30
SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – Middle Tennessee shaved 11 strokes off of its round one total on day two of the Cardinal Cup, carding a 19-over 307 Monday to land in 12th place through two rounds.
The Blue Raiders sit just 12 strokes out of the Top 5 and trail 11th place Minnesota (+48) by only one shot.
Middle has a nine-stroke advantage over the next closest competitor, Bradley, who is 58-over for the tournament.
Samantha Gotcher moved up into a tie for 21st at 9-over par (80-73=153) after firing a second round 73 while Hanley Long sits one stroke back at 10-over (79-75=154) and tied for 26th.
"Samantha and Hanley played pretty well today and really hung in there tough," Head Coach Chris Adams said.
Jenna Burris remains in the Top 40 after carding a 79 on day two and is currently 12-over par (77-79=156) for the tournament.
Lacie York matched her first round score of 82 and is 20-over (82-82=164) through two rounds while Katherine Holmes, who shaved five strokes off her score from round one, is just one stroke behind York at 21-over (85-80=165).
"We still had a few problems with green speeds that we can hopefully correct tomorrow," Adams added. "We need to finish off the fall with a good round by everyone."
The Blue Raiders continue to play well on Par 5 holes, going just 6-over through two rounds which is fifth best in the field. Gotcher (-1), Burris (E) and Long (E) all rank in the Top 21 in the field of 93 in Par 5 scoring.
Middle Tennessee will begin the final day at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
