The meet will begin at 11 a.m.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—The No. 22 ranked men's cross country team is ready for its first-ever NCAA Championship meet Saturday morning in Terre Haute, Ind.
The team looks to build off of its strong second place finish in last week's second place finish in Tallahassee, Fla.
The men's squad recently moved up to its highest ranking history, moving up to No. 22 in the latest USTFCCCA poll. The team's impressive ranking will be tested against the best teams in the nation Saturday.
Middle Tennessee will be one of 31 teams competing in the meet. The Blue Raiders will be led by their standout freshman Jacob Choge, who placed first in the C-USA Championships and first in last week's NCAA South Regional.
Choge remains the No. 7 ranked runner in the country (According to FloTrack) and was selected by NCAA.com as a potential dark horse to dethrone Oregon's Edward Cheserk, who has won the last three NCAA Men's Cross Country Championships. Choge was recently awarded the USTFCCCA South Region Men's Athlete of the Year.
Sophomore Kigen Chemadi looks to continue his brilliant running, after placing second in last week's NCAA South Regional. Chemadi was also mentioned by the USTFCCCA as a dark horse, while running alongside Choge. Juniors Sampson Laari, Amos Cheruiyot, and Geoffry Cheruiyot will be key for the Blue Raiders to finishing higher than their projected 24th place (According to Flotrack).
Seniors Hillary Rono and Shadrack Matelong will have to race smart in their last cross country competition as Blue Raiders.
The men's 10k race is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
