MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee gets its first taste of game action Thursday as it hosts North Alabama in the second leg of an exhibition doubleheader in the Murphy Center.
The Blue Raider men's basketball team will tip at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening following the conclusion of the women's basketball exhibition against Truett-McConnell, which is set to start at 5:00 p.m.
"There's nothing like getting under the lights for the first time," Head Coach Kermit Davis said. "Bobby Champagne has really done an excellent job with North Alabama's program."
The Blue Raiders will have 2015-16 leading scorers Giddy Potts (14.9 ppg) and Reggie Upshaw (13.7 ppg) back in the lineup for the 94th season of Middle Tennessee men's basketball while a deep set of both returners and newcomers will look to lock down starting roles for Davis.
Arkansas transfer JaCorey Williams looks to be a solid bet to start in the post after spending 2015-16 learning the system and working on his mid-range and outside game, while the final two spots are still a little more up for grabs.
Several players could be used Thursday night in attempt to find the best five moving forward on a squad that Davis hailed in the preseason as his biggest, most physical and most athletic team he has had now in his 15th season at Middle Tennessee.
"I'm looking forward to watching a lot of different combinations, but the biggest thing I'm hoping is that we can get what we've practiced into the game," Davis said.
