Freshman Jacob Choge Named C-USA Athlete of the Year

Choge continues to rack up awards
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The awards keep piling in for Blue Raider freshman Jacob Choge, after being voted Conference USA Athlete of the Year, the conference office announced this afternoon.
This is the first time in program history that a Blue Raider has been named C-USA Athlete of the Year.
Choge won the C-USA Championship 8k race with a blistering 23:54.1 time on Oct. 29. The Kapsabet City, Kenya, native, was named Freshman of the Meet, while also being named First Team All-Conference.
The freshman was also the first Blue Raider runner to finish in the NCAA National Championships, placing 40th overall and leading MT to a 28th place finish in the race.
This season, Choge has been named C-USA Athlete of the Year, USTFCCCA All-America, Conference USA Athlete of the Week twice, named Freshman of the Meet and First Team All-Conference at the C-USA Championships after winning the 10k race, and named to the All-Region Team in the NCAA South Regional after finishing first overall in the 10k.
The freshman will look to continue to break records in the indoor track season, beginning this Saturday Dec. 3 at Vanderbilt.
