LUTE OLSON AWARD PRESEASON WATCH LIST
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Blue Raider standout Reggie Upshaw continues to collect preseason recognition ahead of the 2016-17 season, being named Monday to the Lute Olson Award Preseason Watch List.

The Lute Olson Award is presented annually to the nation's top Division I player who has played at least two seasons.

Upshaw, a 2016-17 Preseason All-Conference USA selection, is one of just 50 players from across the country who were named to the preseason watch list and one of just three from Conference USA.

"I think this is a fantastic preseason honor for both Reggie and for our program," Blue Raider Head Coach Kermit Davis said. "I think this really exemplifies his versatility as a player and the progress that he's made over his last three years at Middle Tennessee."

The Chattanooga native enters his senior year at Middle Tennessee with his name already in high regard in the Blue Raider record books. Upshaw surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career in the 2016 Conference USA Tournament and already ranks in the Top 10 in school history for career steals (111), blocks (79) and minutes played (2,814) with a full season left to play.

The senior forward is also on pace to enter the Top 10 at Middle Tennessee for career points, field goals made, rebounds, free throws made, double-doubles, games played and games started during his senior campaign.

"It's a huge honor and it really means a lot to me," Upshaw said. "I think it really shows a lot about who I am as a person and as a player that they put me in the conversation for an award like this.

"It's a great testament to the hard work I've put in over the years and the way in which I carry myself and the way we all carry ourselves here at Middle Tennessee."

Upshaw is coming off of a junior campaign in which he led the team in rebounds per game (8.5), assists (76) and steals (51) while coming in second on the team in points per game (13.7) and blocks (29) while being named Third Team All-Conference USA and Conference USA Tournament MVP.
