Raiders to face third ranked opponent this year
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee returns home to face its third ranked opponent this season against No. 23 Arizona State in the Blue Raiders' first "We Back Pat" game Tuesday night in Murphy Center.
Tuesday's game is set for a 6:30 p.m. tip and will be broadcast on 89.5 WMOT with Dick Palmer and Duane Hickey on the call. Fans can also follow the action via C-USA's streaming site, CUSA.TV/RaiderVision.
Middle Tennessee will participate in the program's first "We Back Pat" game, benefiting The Pat Summitt Foundation. The night is focused on bringing awareness and recognition to the foundation and its fight against Alzheimer's disease.
Limited "We Back Pat" t-shirts with the MT logo will be given away, while fans can also purchase "We Back Pat" wristbands for $3. The MT coaching staff and team will wear a form of purple, the color representing Alzheimer awareness, and videos and slides will run during the game with facts and information about the Pat Summitt Foundation.
Middle Tennessee (2-4) and Arizona State (6-2) have met once prior on the hardwood, with the Sun Devils claiming an 81-67 win in Tempe in 2014.
Alex Johnson and Ty Petty combined for 36 points in the Raiders' 61-48 setback at Kentucky Friday night. Petty continues to lead Middle Tennessee with 15.2 points per game and owns a league-best 5.3 assists per contest.
The Sun Devils enter Murfreesboro riding a four-game win streak, including a 73-71 overtime win at Kentucky Sunday. Sophie Brunner paces the Arizona State offense with 11.5 points per game, while Quinn Dornstauder collects 5.8 rebounds per game.
Defensively, the Sun Devils rank third in the Pac-12, limiting opponents to 56.5 points per contest.
Following Tuesday's meeting, Middle Tennessee will close the week with an in-state showdown against Austin Peay. Saturday's tip against the Governors is set for 2 p.m.
