MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – In their final test before the Conference USA Indoor Championships, the Middle Tennessee track & field teams return to a familiar environment, Nashville and the campus of Vanderbilt for the Music City Challenge Feb. 12-13.

Last Time Out
In their lone home indoor meet of the 2015-16 season, Middle Tennessee captured 10 first-place finishes.
One of the top races for the fans in attendance was the mile, Agnes Abu set a personal-best time of 4:58.04, holding the lead from the beginning over Chattanooga's Teghan Henderson.
In the men's one mile race, Sampson Laari provided his best finish and time of the season, placing third with his time of 4:10.52. Laari's teammate, Eliud Rutto, finished second in 4:09.11.
The MT women's squad also captured first in three field events, the high jump, long jump and triple jump.
In the triple jump, India Hammond bound 12.10 meters (38-8.5) to capture first, while in the high jump Barbara Vilson cleared 1.65 meters (5-5) to claim the top spot.
In the women's long jump, the Blue Raiders dominated the event and claimed the top six spots, with Pershawna Williams jumping 5.94 meters (19-6) for first.
Rutto Travels to Iowa State
One Middle Tennessee runner that will not be going with the Blue Raiders to Nashville is Rutto. The middle distance specialist is slated to compete in the 800 meter at the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa Saturday at 10:15 a.m.
Rutto ranks 13th in the NCAA in the 800 meter with his time of 1:47.97, which he produced at the Camel City Invitational at the end of January.
Comment from Dean Hayes about the Music City Challenge
"It is the final try to get ready for the Conference USA Championships. We pretty well have people qualified for the events that we need them to and there are only a couple of expectations, which we will try to take care of that this weekend."
"We will try and get good performances at the Music City Challenge so that we can have confidence in ourselves before heading into the C-USA Championship in 10 days."
