FINAL RESULTS
MOBILE, AL – The Middle Tennessee men's golf team struggled on the final day of the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate to finish 14th overall. The Blue Raiders had a 54-hole total of 886 on the par 72, 7,212-yard Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course.
Auburn easily won the even with a 26-under par total of 838 followed in second by Chattanooga's 852. Wake Forest came in third at 8-under par while Kansas State and Georgia State rounded out the top five.
The Blue Raiders, playing in their first tournament of the spring, had rounds of 296-294-296.
"I am really disappointed in our response today after a tough outing on Monday," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "To shoot the worst score of the day and finish 14th out of 15 teams is not acceptable at Middle Tennessee. Everyone on this team needs to understand what it means to be part of a program and today was not it. Our supporters and fans expect more so we need to go work a little harder."
Overall, Marcus Byrd was the top finisher for the Blue Raiders as he came in tied for 34th with a 219 total. Byrd entered the final round at 2-under par but posted a 77 Tuesday.
Connor Slane, Graham Gosselin, and Drake Duncan all carded 73s in the final round to lead the Blue Raiders on a tough day. Slane and Gosselin both tied for 51st overall with a score of 223, while Duncan tied for 63rd.
Freshman James Beckner also tied for 63rd with a 227 after a 77 on Tuesday.
Hoyeong Kim competed as an individual and finished 33rd in that tournament with a 243 total.
The Blue Raiders will head to Lafayette, LA next week for the Louisiana Classics at the Oakbourne Country Club.
