MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee track & field teams are slated to return to Birmingham, Alabama and the Birmingham CrossPlex for the Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships Feb. 24-25. The 2016 meet marks the fifth consecutive year that UAB and the CrossPlex have hosted the indoor championships.

Last Time Out
At the Alex Wilson Invitational, only the men's distance medley relay team and Agnes Abu competed for Middle Tennessee.
The DMR team of Eliud Rutto, Ifiok Umoh, Sampson Laari and Hillary Rono raced to a 10th-place finish in 9:33.46, breaking a 35-year old record and rank 20th in the NCAA. The previous time of 9:48.04 was set in 1981.
In the women's 800, Agnes Abu finished sixth overall in 2:05.81, marking the second fastest time for Abu in her career. The Ghana native set the Middle Tennessee indoor 800 record one week prior, finishing in a time of 2:05.71 at the Music City Challenge.
Records Fall
During the 2015-16 indoor season, the Blue Raiders broke four records with Rutto and Abu each being a part of two records.
Rutto, a member of the DMR team at the Alex Wilson Invitational, helped set the new time of 9:33.46, while the Eldoret, Kenya native also broke his own MT record in the 800.
At the ISU classic, Rutto finished third in a career-best 1:46.87 and currently ranks third in the NCAA in the 800.
Abu set the 800 meter record at the Music City Challenge in a career-best time of 2:05.71, and also was a member of the record-setting women's distance medley relay team.
Rhema Cheruiyot, Josphine Kiptebey, Susan Aneno and Abu set the DMR record at the Music City Challenge, finishing first in 11:37.10.

At the 2015 C-USA Indoor Track & Field Championships, WKU captured the men's title with 127 points, while for the women's championship, UTEP captured the title with 122 points.
