No. 1 ranked Illinois is the overall leader at 18-under par, while No. 33 Texas A&M is one shot back in second place.
Freshman James Beckner led the way on day one with a 1-under par total of 143. Beckner opened with a 2-under par 70 in round one before registering a 73 in round two. Beckner had nine birdies on the day.
Fellow freshman Marcus Byrd carded a 144 Monday and is tied for 26th. Byrd struggled with a 76 in round one but bounced back strong in the afternoon with a 4-under par 68. Byrd had six birdies in his second round.
"James played solid all day and Marcus was great in the afternoon," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "It bodes well for the future when you have two freshmen leading the way. Both players certainly have the physical tools to be a part of some good college teams in the future and I look forward to watching them grow and improve has they gain experience."
Drake Duncan is tied for 35th with a 147 total. The junior opened with a 76 before posting a 1-under par 71 in round two.
Connor Slane is tied for 61st while Graham Gosselin is tied for 70th. Hoyeong Kim, who played as an individual, is tied for 51st.
