FINAL RESULTS
LAFAYETTE – The Middle Tennessee men's golf team carded a 304 on the final day of the Louisiana Classics to finish ninth overall. The Blue Raiders had a 54-hole total of 888 on the par 72, 6,898-yard Oakbourne Country Club course.
No. 1 ranked Illinois won the event with a 15-under par 849 followed closely by No. 45 Kansas at 14-under par. No. 33 Texas A&M came in third.
"We had a chance to move up some spots after getting off to a good start," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "Conditions were tough but we just could not finish off our round. It was another opportunity for our young guys to deal with some adversity and hopefully they will benefit from the experience."
Junior Drake Duncan led the way on Tuesday with a 1-over par 73 to tie for 25th overall. Duncan had three birdies on his round and seven total for the week.
Freshman James Beckner posted a 78 in the final round to tie for 28th with a 221 total. Beckner recorded 10 birdies during the week.
After an impressive 68 in the second round, freshman Marcus Byrd turned in a 78 on Tuesday to tie for 32nd with a score of 222. Byrd led the team with 11 birdies (tied for sixth in the field) and six came on par 5s.
Junior Connor Slane tied for 51st with a 227 after registering a 75 in the final round, while freshman Graham Gosselin tied for 69th with a 236.
Sophomore Hoyeong Kim, who played as an individual, tied for 51st with a 227.
The Blue Raiders will travel next to the San Diego Classic in San Diego, CA, March 14-15.
