Career-best finish in San Diego
IRVING, Texas - Middle Tennessee sophomore Hoyeong Kim earns the Conference USA Men's Golfer of the Week award after a career-best finish in a stacked field that featured three top-25 teams at the Lamkin Grips SD Classic at the San Diego Country Club (par 72/7,033 yards).
Kim tied for 11th, a career-best finish, against stout competition at the Lamkin Grips SD Classic. The field featured three top-25 Division I teams in the GolfStat rankings; No. 6 Arizona State, No. 12 Texas and No. 21 San Diego State. The sophomore teed off against some of the country's top individuals as well, including event champion and current No. 1 Beau Hossler of Texas. Kim carded a 2-over 218 (69-72-77) in the 92-man field, finishing ahead of six top-100 golfers. The South Korean's opening round 3-under 69 set a new career low. Kim was third in par-4 scoring (3.97/-1), and finished the invitational with 10 birdies and 33 pars.
