TUCSON, Ariz. – A final round 294 (+6) wasn't enough to propel Middle Tennessee up the leaderboard on Saturday as the Blue Raiders finished in 13th, just where they started the day, at the MountainView Collegiate.
Middle Tennessee improved on their scores from day one in round three but failed to make a move despite sitting at even-par beyond the halfway mark Saturday.
"We had it going pretty early and just didn't finish it off," head coach Chris Adams said.
The Raiders finished with a three-round total of 31-over par (301-300-294=895), placing them one stroke behind Minnesota.
Avery George led the way for the Blue Raiders on Saturday with a 71 (-1), finishing the tournament in a tie for 22nd at 5-over par (76-74-71=221).
Emily Miller carded an even-par third round to finish one stroke behind George in a tie for 24th at 6-over par (73-77-72=216).
Freshmen Hanley Long (76-75-76=227) and Jenna Burris (78-74-75=227) both finished in a tie for 54th place at 11-over par for the tournament while Samantha Gotcher rounded out the Blue Raider lineup at 18-over par (76-80-78=234).
"Avery (George) and Emily (Miller) both played well to finish in the top 25, but we have some things to work on and we'll need to get mentally tougher for the next event," Adams added.
The Blue Raiders are back on the course in a little over a week when they compete in the Henssler Financial Collegiate at Pinetree Country Club in Atlanta on March 28-29.
