Coach Aston Rhoden announces five spring matches
MURFREESBORO – Middle Tennessee soccer and Head Coach Aston Rhoden announced the 2016 spring schedule this week with five matches scheduled plus the Alumni game to close out the spring slate.
The first two matches scheduled will be at Hayes Stadium on the Middle Tennessee campus. The Raiders will take on Vanderbilt March 20 at 4:30 p.m., then March 23 MT will host Trevecca at 7 p.m. MT played Vanderbilt last spring, and the last time they faced each other in the regular season Vanderbilt took a hard fought 2-0 win in Murfreesboro in 2012.
On April 2 the Raiders will travel to Bowling Green, Ky., for a double-header. The first match will be against Morehead State at noon, followed by a meeting with former Sun Belt Conference foe Troy at 4 p.m. In the regular season, MT hasn't played the Eagles since 1999, but has a split in the head-to-head series. The Raiders hold an 8-1-1 advantage over the Trojans and have won the last three meetings, including a 3-1 decision in 2012 to close out Sun Belt Conference play.
April 9 will see the Raiders travel to Pulaski, Tenn., to take on the Martin Methodist RedHawks at 2 p.m. before hosting the annual alumni game on April 17 to cap off the spring season.
