MT to Host Vanderbilt at Reese Smith Jr Field

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A fourth-straight game against a top-15 opponent is on the docket at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening as Middle Tennessee (11-9, 1-2 C-USA) plays host to No. 6 Vanderbilt (17-3, 1-2 SEC) at Reese Smith, Jr. Field.
Right-hander Sam Alton (2-1, 5.52) will take the mound for the Blue Raiders making his third start and eighth appearance of his senior campaign.
The Commodores, a perennial SEC and national contender, own a 60-24 record all-time against Middle Tennessee and won both meetings of last season's midweek home-and-home series.
The Blue Raiders are coming off of a three-game series with No. 15 ranked Florida Atlantic in which they opened the series with a win before falling in the Saturday and Sunday meetings to drop their first weekend series of the season.
Vanderbilt also dropped two out of three in their conference-opening series, losing in Nashville on Friday and Saturday to No. 14 Mississippi State before salvaging the weekend with a Sunday win.
Middle Tennessee is led at the plate by leadoff hitter Riley Delgado, who is batting .432 on the season with 12 runs scored and eight runs batted in. The junior shortstop went 6-for-13 over the weekend against FAU.
Representatives from the American Cancer Society will be at Tuesday's contest with luminaria ahead of the Cancer Awareness night on April 5 wehn the Blue Raiders face Austin Peay.
