Raiders tied for 12 after first round

Kim shoots 1-under par
LAKE WORTH, FL – The Middle Tennessee men's golf team turned in an opening round 290 to tie for 12th at the FAU Slomin Autism Invite. The Blue Raiders had 11 total birdies on the par 71, 6,876-yard Fountains Country Club North course. The team will play 18 on Saturday and 18 more on Sunday.
UConn grabbed the day one lead with an 8-under par 276 followed by Florida Atlantic, Mississippi and Florida Gulf Coast who all were 3-under par (281).
"We had a tough finish to our round but we did not shoot ourselves out of it," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "Everyone was in the game for most of the day. We just did not have that low round that the teams ahead of us were able to get."
Sophomore Hoyeong Kim continued his solid play with a 1-under par 70 that included four birdies. Kim is tied for 19th.
Junior Connor Slane is tied for 33rd after posting a 1-over par 72. Slane had three birdies on his round and shot a 36 on each side.
Marcus Byrd, James Beckner and Drake Duncan all recorded a 74 and are tied for 53rd. Byrd and Duncan tied for the third most pars with 14.
The Blue Raiders will play the second round beginning Saturday morning before concluding with round three on Sunday.
