Ramsay, Henry to coach against Alma Mater
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis head coach Charlie Ramsay and assistant coach David Henry will be returning to their alma mater to coach two matches this weekend.
Ramsay and Henry enjoyed successful playing careers for the men's tennis team at Memphis, and were teammates for two seasons. Now, they return to coach the MT women's tennis team against VCU on Saturday and the Tigers on Sunday.
"It'll be really cool to go back to Memphis this weekend where David and I played our college tennis," Ramsay said. "We're hoping to get a couple of quality wins while we're there."
The Rams bring a 4-8 record to Memphis this weekend, and will face the Tigers on Friday. VCU defeated Marshall, 4-3, on the road, but lost 6-1 to FIU to open up outdoor action earlier this month. They've suffered close 4-3 losses to Old Dominion, Penn State and East Carolina.
Memphis enters the weekend with a 1-10 mark on the season, and are on a 10 match losing streak. They opened up the year by defeating Chattanooga, 6-1, at home. They've faced six ranked opponents this season and only been shut out three times.
"Memphis and VCU will be tough and we're looking forward to competing," Ramsay added.
This will be the last road trip of the season for the Blue Raiders, as they welcome Alabama A&M and Western Kentucky in April before hosting the Conference USA Championship on April 21-24 at the Adams Tennis Complex.
