Two Raiders in top 20 through 36 holes
Round 2 Standings
KENNESAW, Ga. – After a slow start to the day at Pinetree Country Club, Middle Tennessee climbed up the leaderboard into fifth place by the end of round two.
The Blue Raiders sat in a tie for 9th place at the conclusion of round one, shooting a 22-over par 310. MT caught fire in round two, but dropped a few strokes late in the day and carded a 12-over par 300 to move four spots up the leaderboard.
"We didn't have the start we wanted but really had it going late into the second round," head coach Chris Adams said. "We hot a lot of good shots and made a lot of birdies, but need to eliminate some mistakes to avoid the double bogeys."
Senior Emily Miller paced the Blue Raiders, finishing the day in a tie for 13th at seven-over par. Miller carded the best round for MT in round one at two-over 74 followed by a five-over 77 in round two.
Freshman Hanley Long is second on the team and in a tie for 17th in the field at eight-over par. Long fired a two-over 74 in round two after a 78 (+6) in round one.
Avery George carded a six-over 78 in round one, but shaved off three strokes in round two with a three-over 75 to land in a tie for 23rd at nine-over par for the tournament.
Jenna Burris joined fellow freshman Long with a two-over 74 in round two after carding an 80 (+8) in round one. The redshirt freshman sits in a tie for 27th through 36 holes at 10-over par.
Lacie York rounded out the Blue Raider lineup at 21-over par, shooting an 81 (+9) in round one and an 84 (+12) in round two.
Maddie Denton was in the field competing as an individual and finished out round two at 24-over par.
"We are not far from making a jump in the leaderboard so I am excited about playing tomorrow," Adams added.
The Henssler Financial Collegiate continues tomorrow with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
