Seniors key in sweep of Austin Peay

Blue Raiders win final home match
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee seniors Dima Zyhmantovich and Robin Riethmueller came away with singles victories on Tuesday, as the Blue Raiders blanked Austin Peay, 7-0.
"It was great to get the team win and then the see the seniors win," MT head coach Jimmy Borendame said. "That's all you can ask for today."
MT took the doubles point behind a 6-1 win at No. 1 and a 6-2 victory at No. 2.
Zyhmantovich and Riethmueller were leading 4-3 at No. 3 doubles, but were unable to complete their match.
"When Dima and Robin got here, their teammates really took them in, along with our great community," Borendame said of his seniors. "The guys are excellent student athletes. It was more like a welcoming home."
Miguel Negre Fernandez got singles action started with a quick 6-1, 6-2 rout of his opponent at No. 3. Riethmueller was next to finish, as he was perfect in his second set, earning the 6-2, 6-0 victory in his final singles match at Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.
The Blue Raider victory was clinched by Ayed Zatar Cordero at No. 2 by a score of 6-2, 6-2. After a tight first set at No. 4, Gian Issa had a strong showing in the second set en route to a 6-4, 6-1 victory.
In his final singles match at home, Zyhmantovich finally found his groove in the second set and carried that over to the match-tiebreak, where he took the win, 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6). Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore completed the sweep of the Governors with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at the top spot in the lineup.
One final road match is left before the 2016 Conference USA Championship in Houston on April 21-24. The Blue Raiders will be in Norfolk, Virginia, to face Old Dominion on Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
