MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis seniors Brittany Huxley, Darya Shulzhanok and Giulia Squadrin have one match at Buck Bouldin Tennis Center remaining in their careers as Blue Raiders.
MT is set to take on Conference USA rival Western Kentucky on Saturday at 1 p.m. Free T-shirts will be given out at the match, while supplies last.
"Our seniors have enjoyed this week of preparation for their last match on campus," MT head coach Charlie Ramsay said. "Our three seniors have contributed a ton to this program over the past two years."
The Hilltoppers have a 9-4 record and are riding a four match win streak coming into the showdown with the Blue Raiders on Saturday afternoon. MT and WKU share four common opponents in the 2016 season, including Louisville, Belmont, Murray State and Chattanooga.
Louisville defeated WKU 4-2 early in the season, but the Blue Raiders got the best of the Cardinals on Feb. 2 by a score of 4-3. MT opened the season with the Bruins and took the win, 6-1, while having to forfeit the No. 6 singles spot. The Hilltoppers took down Belmont by the same score on Feb. 27.
WKU earned a 6-1 win over Murray State earlier in the season, but MT blanked the Racers, 7-0, in their meeting on March 23. The Blue Raiders welcomed Chattanooga to the new Adams Tennis Facility on Feb. 4 and came away with a 6-1 victory, but the Hilltoppers took their win over the Mocs, 4-2, in Bowling Green on March 15.
Elpida Malamou has the best singles record for the Hilltoppers this season, with a 12-1 mark, mostly at the No. 3 spot in the lineup. Andreanna Christopoulou is 7-0 at the top of the lineup for WKU and has an overall singles record of 11-2.
The C-USA Women's Tennis Championship is next week, April 21-24, at the Adams Tennis Complex.
