Zyhmantovich and Negre Fernandez named All-Academic
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Conference USA released the men's tennis All-Academic team on Tuesday ahead of the 2016 C-USA Men's Tennis Championship, hosted by Rice, starting Friday.
Middle Tennessee was the only C-USA team to have multiple members of the squad recognized on the All-Academic team.
Dima Zyhmantovich is a finance major with a GPA of 3.874. The senior from Minsk, Belarus, spent most of his time in the regular season at the top spot in the lineup. He earned an overall record of 11-8, including a 7-6 mark at the No. 1 spot.
The second Blue Raider to win the award this season was Miguel Negre Fernandez. The sophomore's 2016 campaign on the court is much improved from his freshman season, as he currently has the team's best singles record at 17-5. Negre is a staple in the middle of the Blue Raiders' lineup, going 5-1 at No. 3 and 8-1 at No. 4.
After finishing the regular season with a record of 16-9, MT earned the No. 3 seed in this season's conference tournament, where they'll face Charlotte. That first round showdown is Friday at 10 a.m. in Houston.
