Senior picks up academic award
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee senior Giulia Squadrin has been named to the Conference USA All-Academic team, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Squadrin hails from Padova, Italy and is the daughter of Alessandro Squadrin and Elena Strazzabosco. She has a 4.0 GPA and is a graduate student at MT. She's pursuing her Master's degree in International Security and Peace Studies.
When the dust settled on the regular season, Squadrin had a 6-9 singles mark this season, with a win at No. 3 and a 2-2 record at No. 5.
Fellow MT senior Brittany Huxley partnered with Squadrin in doubles to go 13-3 and end the season with a 10 match win streak. All but one of those doubles wins came at the top spot in the lineup.
Squadrin plans to go home to Italy to spend time with family this summer and will be moving to Geneva, Switzerland, for an internship in human rights.
The Blue Raiders begin the 2016 C-USA Women's Tennis Championship on Thursday at 3 p.m. against Western Kentucky.
