Men's golf begins play in C-USA Championship Sunday

TEXARKANA, Ark. – Middle Tennessee's men's golf team will begin its quest for the 2016 C-USA Championship at the Texarkana Country Club here Sunday afternoon.
The Blue Raider quintet of Marcus Byrd, James Beckner, Drake Duncan, Hoyeong Kim and Connor Slane will represent Middle Tennessee at the 54-hole event.
The championship consists of 54 holes of stroke play on the par 72, 6,969-yard course over three days. Following the results of stroke play, the top four teams will advance to a seeded match play round to be held Wednesday.
The team champion after match play will earn C-USA's automatic berth into the NCAA Regional.
Middle Tennessee players will tee off, along with Old Dominion and Louisiana Tech, from No. 10 at 8 a.m. Sunday. Seeding is based on the current Golfstat rankings.
Byrd and Duncan lead Middle Tennessee with a 73.9 stroke average.
The Blue Raiders turned in four Top 10 finishes this spring, including a sixth-place finish at the Lamkin Grips SD Classic. Byrd leads Middle Tennessee with two Top 10 finishes, including one Top 5. Duncan and Beckner have the only other Top 10 finishes on the team this spring.
