Women’s Tennis season ends in C-USA Quarterfinals

FIU takes down MT, 4-0

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee fought hard in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship, but top-seeded FIU lived up to expectations and took the match, 4-0.

The doubles portion of the match was tight, but the Panthers came away with the first point of the match due to 6-4 wins at No. 1 and 2. Alory Pereira and Costanza Magazzini were able to get a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

FIU worked fast at No. 3 singles, winning the match 6-0, 6-2. After a close first set at No. 2, the Panthers took full control in the second and came out the victor, 7-5, 6-2.

The clinching point came at No. 5, as FIU pulled away in the second set to claim the win, 6-4, 6-2.

Shulzhanok was unable to finish at the top spot in the lineup, but was in a battle, 6-7 (4-7), 3-4. Giulia Squadrin's match was called in the third set.

Magazzini was one game short of claiming the win and putting the Blue Raiders on the board. Her score was 6-4, 5-4.

MT's season ends with a record of 14-8-1 in the first year of Charlie Ramsay's tenure as head coach of the Blue Raiders.
