Sprints, Jumps lead Blue Raider Through Final Day at Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – On the final day of the War Eagle Invitational, the Middle Tennessee track & field teams relied on the sprints and the jumps at the Hutsell-Rosen Track.
For the Middle Tennessee women's team, the Blue Raiders earned six top ten finishes, while also adding four season-best performances.
In the long jump, India Hammond leaped a season-best 6.14 meters (20-1.75) to finished fourth, while senior Pershawna Williams also jumped a season-best 5.94 meters (19-6), finishing eighth.
"These marks add to the depth of the women's long jump in Conference USA," associate head coach Keith Vroman. "The Blue Raiders no have five of the top six spots in C-USA."
Williams also competed in the high jump, clearing 1.65 meters (5-5) for 12th. Barbara Vilson and Qetuwrah Abdullah-Muhammad claimed season-best distances in the high jump with Vilson finishing third after clearing 1.70 meters (5-7). Abdullah-Muhammad also cleared 1.70 meters.
In the sprint events, Vilson continued her success from earlier in the day, placing fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best 1:00.39.
In the 400 meter, Loveth Odia netted first after finishing in a season-best 54.30, while Shaina Johnson also earned a season-best time of 56.25 and placed 11th.
Elizabeth Dadzie competed in the 100 meters and the 100-meter hurdles, finishing sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.72, a personal-best for the Kumasi, Ghana native.
Dadize also earned the top finish for the Blue Raiders in the 200 meter, finishing 16th in 24.50.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Taylor Day, Shaina Johnson, Loveth Odia, Agnes Abu capped the day for the Blue Raiders, placing first over Alabama in 3:42.32.
For the men's squad, Adeniji Adedamola ran a personal-best in the 400 meter, finishing in 48.07 and placing third. Ifiok Umoh also competed in the 400 and finished 17th in 50.17.
Atsu Nyamadi, a multi-event specialist, competed in the 100 meter, 110-meter hurdles, long jump, shot put and discus.
Nyamadi, a 2015 NCAA Outdoor Second-Team All-American, earned his best finish of the day in the long jump, leaping 7.10 meters (23-3.5) for seventh.
The Ghana native also finished 10th in the discus (44.97m/147-6), 13th in the shot put (12.96m/42-6.25) and 15th in the 110-meter hurdles (14.61). Nymadi also finished 32nd in the 100 meters in 11.28.
Middle Tennessee continues competition at the Penn Relays Thursday, April 28.
