Kim tied for 4th after round one

TEXARKANA, AR – Middle Tennessee opened the Conference USA men's golf championship on Sunday with a 296 to stand in seventh place in the 13-team field.
No. 38 UAB shot a 285 to grab the day one lead by one stroke over LA Tech. North Texas, ODU and Marshall are all tied for third (292). The Raiders are just one back of sixth place UTSA.
"We got off to a good start but missed some opportunities on some scoring holes and lost our momentum," said Head Coach Brennan Webb. "We scrapped it around the rest of the day but Hoyeong Kim played a steady round of golf and gave us an opportunity to stay in the tournament."
Kim carded a 2-under par 70 and is tied for fourth overall. He had four birdies on the day, including two over his last three holes. Kim was 3-under on the par 5s and even on the par 4s.
Drake Duncan and James Beckner both registered a 75 and remain in a tie for 27th.
Marcus Byrd turned in a 76 to tie for 35th while Connor Slane is tied for 47th after posting a 78.
The Blue Raiders will tee off at 8 AM Monday off hole one and will be paired with UTSA.
