Borendame heads up 3rd annual dodgeball event
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – As final exam time approaches, Middle Tennessee student-athletes were invited for a night of fun and dodgeball to relax before hitting the books hard.
Over 50 Blue Raiders, from almost every sport, participated in the third annual event on Wednesday night, sponsored by Waffle House and put together by men's tennis head coach Jimmy Borendame.
"The dodgeball event was another success for the third year in a row," Borendame said. "I am happy the student-athletes enjoyed it. Thanks to Chip Walters and Waffle House for partnering. We all really appreciate it."
Free burgers, chicken sandwiches and hash brown bowls were given out to the student-athletes before they stepped on the court at Alumni Memorial Gymnasium for the tournament.
"The timing of the event is perfect as the last day of class and it gives everyone a short 45 minute break before hitting the books again all while getting some great burgers and chicken from Waffle House," Borendame added.
Borendame hopes to continue the tradition for years to come.
"Each year, the kids really appreciate it and I enjoy putting it on for them. I hope we can do more things like this to continue to build more camaraderie amongst the teams."
