Nyamadi Third, Dadzie Sixth

ATHENS, Ga. – After the first day of the Georgia Bulldog Decathlon/Heptathlon, Elizabeth Dadzie is in sixth place in the heptathlon, while Atsu Nyamadi is in third in the decathlon at the Spec Towns Track.
Dadzie, who tallied 3,167 points through four events, ranks sixth, while after five events Nyamadi ranks third with 4,093 points.
"Both have been very consistent and have done well throughout the first day of competition," said head coach Dean Hayes. "Nyamadi and Dadzie both earned new personal-best point totals for the first day,"
Dadzie earned her best finishes of the day in the 200 meter and the 100-meter hurdles, placing fourth in both events. In the 200 meter, the Kumasi, Ghana native finished in 25.10 seconds for 878 points, while in the hurdles Dadzie completed the event in 13.78 for 1,010 points.
The junior earned her lowest point total in the shot put, scoring 578 points after her sixth-place finish (10.74m).
In Dadzie's second event on the day, she earned her lowest finish, placing eighth in the high jump after clearing 1.57 meters (5-1.75) for 701 points.
Nyamadi's nabbed his best performance and points in the long jump, bounding 7.55 meters (24-9.25) for third and 937 points.
In the shot put and high jump, Nyamadi finished fifth after throwing the shot 13.76 meters (43-06) and clearing 2.00 meters (6-6.75) in the high jump. The Ghana native earned 714 points and 803 points, respectively.
Nyamadi's lowest point totals of the day were from the two running events, the 100 and 400 meter.
In the 100 meter, Nyamadi placed eighth after finishing in 11.15 seconds (827 pts), while in the 400 he placed sixth in a personal-best 50.6 seconds for 812 points.
Nyamadi and Dadzie continue competition tomorrow to complete the decathlon and heptathlon in Athens, Georgia.
