Men’s Tennis Sweeps in San Antonio

Blue Raider shut out Conference USA foe UTSA
SAN ANTONIO – The 2016 Conference USA Men's Tennis Championship is in Houston on April 22-24 this season. Middle Tennessee took down C-USA foe UTSA, 4-0, today in preparation of the upcoming tournament.
The Blue Raiders were in a battle in doubles action, but got the best of the Roadrunners, winning by a score of 7-5 at No. 1 and 2.
Singles belonged to MT, as three Blue Raiders earned straight set wins to clinch the 4-0 victory. Miguel Negre Fernandez got singles play started with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3, followed by Ayed Zatar Cordero at No. 2 by a score of 6-3, 6-2.
Gian Issa earned the fourth MT point in the match by winning 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5.
Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore was up a set when the match was called, 6-4, 3-3. Dima Zyhmantovich had just forced a third set, but was unable to finish his match, 3-6, 6-2. Robin Riethmueller's match at No. 6 was not completed, with the score being 4-6, 1-4.
The win on Saturday put an end to MT's four match losing streak, their longest of the season.
For the final home match of the 2016 campaign, Middle Tennessee will host Austin Peay for Senior Day on Tuesday at 2 p.m. There will be free shirts, Pop-Tarts, popcorn and Moutain Dew Kickstart, all while supplies last.
