Raiders find success at Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – On the final day of the Tiger Track Classic, the Blue Raiders found success in the 800 meter and the 1,500 meter at the Hutsell-Rosen Track
"It was a pretty good day and the 800 was very good for both the men and the women," said head coach Dean Hayes.
In the women's 800 meter, Agnes Abu captured first in 2:05.77, running the event for the first time this outdoor season. Susan Aneno, the Conference USA Indoor Female Freshman of the Year, placed second in 2:05.94, while also running the 800 for the first time outdoors.
The Middle Tennessee women also found success in the 3,000 meter, 3,000 meter steeplechase and the 4x400-meter relay
In the steeplechase, Rhema Cheruiyot finished fifth in 11:12.08 and narrowly missed a season-best time in the event, while in the 3,000, Gladys David finished 10th in 9:55.71. Hannah Maina also placed in the top 15 in the 3K, finishing 12th in 9:57.37.
In the 4x400-meter relay, the team of Taylor Day, Loveth Odia, Abu and Aneno placed second in 3:39.47.
For the MT men's squad, the Blue Raiders captured first in the 800 meter and the 1,500 meter.
In the 800, Sampson Laari notched a personal-best 1:48.01 time in the event and placed first, while in the 1,500, Eliud Rutto captured first with a time of 3:48.35.
Hillary Rono, who raced in both the 800 and 1,500, finished 12th in the 800 meter (1:53.50) and placed second in the 1,500 meters (3:49.34).
In the 4x400-meter relay, Rutto and Laari along with Greg Cantrell and Adeniji Adedamola finished fifth in 3:12.66.
Middle Tennessee continues competition at the Auburn Invitational April 22-23.
