Dadzie earns C-USA honor

Scored 20 points for the Blue Raiders
IRVING, Texas – Middle Tennessee's Elizabeth Dadzie has been named C-USA Outdoor Track & Field Championship Female Field Performer of the Meet as announced by the conference office.
Dadzie, a junior from Kumasi, Ghana captured the individual title in the heptathlon and the long jump, scoring 20 team points for the Blue Raiders.
"Winning this award should help her confidence in big meets such as the NCAA Championship and meets where she represents her country of Ghana," said head coach Dean Hayes. "She has worked hard and gained more confidence every time she is in this meet, improving on her scores and times each time out."
Dadzie, who scored a personal-best and school record 5,599 points in the heptathlon, ranks seventh in the NCAA East Region. In the heptathlon, the Ghana native won the long jump with a leap of 6.20 meters (20-4.25), placed second in the javelin with a throw of 34.28 meters (112-6) and fourth in the shot put with a toss of 11.63 meters (38-2.25).
Following the two-day competition in the heptathlon, the Ghana native leapt 6.09 meters in the long jump to capture the title over UTEP's Tobi Amusan (6.06m).
"We look forward to what she can do at the NCAA Regional and NCAA Championship," said Hayes. "Her competition in the NCAA regional in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump is a great stepping stone prior to the NCAA Championship."
Dadzie is slated to continue competition at the NCAA East Regional in Jacksonville, Florida May 26-28 in the long jump and the 100-meter hurdles. The Ghana native was also selected to compete in the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon June 8-11.
