MT Alumni to Compete at Wimbledon

Two former Blue Raiders in the Gentlemen’s Doubles draw
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee will once again be represented on the biggest stage in tennis when John Peers and Andreas Siljestrom compete in the Gentlemen's Doubles at Wimbledon.
Peers is currently ranked No. 10 in doubles in the world and will partner with Henri Kontinen in this year's tournament. The Melbourne, Australia, native played for the Blue Raiders from 2008-10 before transferring to Baylor for his senior season. Peers earned All-Sun Belt Singles and Doubles honors in 2009 and 2010, as well as the Sun Belt Tournament Most Outstanding Player award in 2009.
The pair will face Nicholas Monroe and Donald Young from the United States in the first round.
After winning the 2007 NCAA Doubles Championship, Siljestrom turned pro and is now set to play at Wimbledon for the third time in his career. A member of the All-Sun Belt Singles team all four years at MT and All-Sun Belt Doubles team his final three seasons, Siljestrom is currently ranked No. 74 in doubles on the pro tour. He was an ITA All-American in 2006 and 2007, and was named Sun Belt Player of the Week seven times throughout his illustrious career as a Blue Raider.
Siljestrom and fellow Swede Johan Brunstrom will play Andrej Martin and Hans Podlipnik-Castillo in the opening round of the Gentlemen's Doubles.
