"Anatomy of an Upset" special at 3:00 PM Saturday
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee head men's basketball coach Kermit Davis will be providing a behind-the-scenes look at one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history this Saturday as a guest speaker at Nashville's Music City Sports Festival.
The event spans Saturday and Sunday with a speaker series that includes ESPN's Trevor Matich as well as Tennessee Titans Brian Orakpo and Jack Conklin. There will also be clinics for multiple sports and ticket prices are just $5 per day or $8 for both days.
Davis will take the stage from 3:00-3:45 p.m. Saturday alongside Blue Raider play-by-play announcer Chip Walters for the "Anatomy of an Upset" special and will also be autographing Conference USA Championship posters for fans from 2:15-2:45 p.m.
"I think this is really going to be fun," said ESPN Nashville Sports Director George Plaster. "This was one of the great college basketball events our area has ever experienced.
"To hear from the head coach about the preparation and putting their scouting report into the game and knocking off one of college basketball's elite programs will be a unique experience for Middle Tennessee fans specifically and college basketball fans in general. We hope there will be a lot of Blue Raiders in the house to enjoy this."
While many fans experienced the game live, an account from Davis of the preparation and game plan that took down the mighty Spartans of Michigan State while most of the world gave them no chance is something that not only Blue Raider fans but all college basketball fans will be able to appreciate.
"George [Plaster] and his staff have, as always, done a tremendous job in the organization of this event," Davis said. "Chip and I are really looking forward to giving fans an inside view of the week leading up to our NCAA Tournament game against Michigan State, but I'm also looking forward to being able to hear from the rest of the great list of speakers that will be a part of the event."
The festival is located at the Music City Center in Downtown Nashville at 201 5th Avenue South. Fans can find more information on the event or purchase tickets at MusicCitySportsFestival.com.
