Raiders have third highest Director's Cup finish

Track and men's basketball lead way
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee capped off another outstanding academic and athletic year with its third-best finish all-time in the 2015-16 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup. The Blue Raiders placed 91st out of 347 Division I schools with 214.0 total points, which also led all Conference USA schools.
Middle Tennessee received 54.5 points from men's outdoor track, 50 points from men's basketball, 44 points from men's indoor track, 25 points each from football and women's basketball and 15.5 points from women's golf.
The Blue Raiders' best finish came in 2008-09 with 259 points to place 76th while placing 79th in 2009-10 with 217.5 points.
The top 100 schools are dominated by the power five conferences and the Blue Raiders finished 28th nationally among the non-big five members.
Middle Tennessee finished ahead of such schools like Gonzaga, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, East Carolina, Dayton, Xavier, UCF, Memphis and VCU.
The Blue Raiders won three conference championships during the 2015-16 campaign.
The Blue Raiders made NCAA appearances in men's basketball, women's basketball, and women's golf, while football advanced to the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl. The men's outdoor track program tied for 18th nationally as a number of individuals advanced to the NCAA Championships.
