Blue Raiders enjoying summer league success

21 players participating in nine leagues
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The 2016 Summer Collegiate Baseball League has been in full effect all across the country this summer. The Blue Raiders have 21 players in nine different leagues looking to improve their skills for this upcoming season.
Drew Huff I INF/OF I Alexandria Aces I Cal Ripken League
The rising sophomore is on fire at the plate, with a five-game hit streak and has collected at least one hit in 10 of his last 11 games. On July 10, Huff went a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and a stolen base leading the Aces to a win. The utility man is leading the Aces in multiple categories this summer. He leads the team with total at-bats (129), hits (39), RBI (18), and games started (32). The right hander is sporting a superb .302 batting average good enough for third on the team.
AJ Spencer I P/OF I Alexandria Aces I Cal Ripken League
The two-way Blue Raider is both on the mound and in the batting order this summer for the Aces. Spencer is maintaining a .296 batting average, while amassing 11 RBI. On the mound, Spencer started five games totaling 21-1/3 innings of work.
Chase Hensley I RHP/1B I Madisonville Miners I Ohio Valley League
Hensley is having a break-out summer with an explosive .375 batting average. His slugging percentage is through the roof at .722. The rising redshirt senior has also hit six home runs and 22 RBI with the Miners.
Austin Sistrunk I INF I Madisonville Miners I Ohio Valley League
Sistrunk is putting together a strong offensive campaign this summer, crushing three homers and 14 RBI. With a .286 batting average, the rising redshirt senior is providing a great spark for the Miners.
Andy Wright I RHP I Muhlenberg County Stallions I Ohio Valley League
In four starts, Wright is posting an outstanding 2.04 ERA in 17-2/3 innings of work for the Stallions.
Blake Benefield I IF/OF I Lake Erie Monarchs I Great Lakes League
The up-and-coming sophomore for the Raiders is picking up where he left off at the end of his freshman season. He has crushed five homers and 15 RBI, good for second most on the team in both categories. Benefield's five home runs is tied for fourth best in the Great Lakes League. The Murfreesboro product is on a hot streak of late, smashing three of his five home runs and eight of his 15 RBI over his last 10 contests.
Carson Lester I RHP/OF I Hamilton Joes I Great Lakes League
The right-handed reliever for MT is having a breakout summer starting games for the Joes. The Siegel HS native, is leading the team in games started (7), innings pitched (35), and ERA 1.80. Lester is striking out opponents left and right, averaging six strikeouts per game over his last three starts.
Caleb Smith I RHP I Lake Erie Monarchs I Great Lakes League
The right-handed reliever is having a great summer with the Monarchs, pitching 19-2/3 innings in relief, including striking out 19 batters. Smith is receiving a majority of the work this summer with a team-high 11 appearances in relief. The Fayetteville, Tenn., native is also boasting a 2-1 record with a substantial 3.66 ERA.
Kaleb King I OF I Hamilton Joes I Great Lakes League
King had a breakout game July 10, when he went 2-for-3 with a whopping six RBI. The rising senior is batting .293 with 19 RBI this summer, including leading the team with 10 doubles.
Reid Clements I RHP I Thomasville Hi-Toms I Coastal Plains League
The righty hurler has impressed this summer, posting a 1.12 ERA in 16 innings. Clements has posted a 2-1 mark in nine appearances. The MT reliever leads the team in strikeouts, fanning a remarkable 28 batters with limited action.
Brad Jarreau I OF I Thomasville Hi-Toms I Coastal Plains League
Jarreau is tearing it up from the plate this summer, tallying a team second-best five homers, team-best 38 hits, while posting an exceptional .304 batting average. The right-handed slugger has started 31 games for the Hi-Toms, the most out of any other player.
Aaron Aucker I INF I Edenton Steamers I Coastal Plains League
Aucker is one of three Steamers to start all 31 games this summer. The rising redshirt junior brought his bat to Edenton, leading the team with 28 RBI, good enough for third best in the Coastal Plains League. Aucker is also third on the team in home runs and hits with five and 32 respectively.
Cody Puckett I LHP I Battle Creek Bombers I Northwoods League
Primarily a relief pitcher, Puckett pitched his first game as a starter July 10 where he went 6-1/3 innings allowing one run on five hits and striking out five in a winning effort. This summer the southpaw has a 2-1 record, with a 2.45 ERA, and 22 strikeouts. Puckett's relief work has amounted to 18-1/3 innings in nine total appearances.
Riley Delgado I INF I Plymouth Pilgrims I New England League
Delgado has been hot from the plate over the past four games, batting .333 BA with three RBI. The rising senior is fourth on the team with 19 hits so far this summer.
Will Small I RHP I Brookhaven Bucks I Sun Belt League
The rising senior is having an impressive summer, compiling a 2-1 record with a 2.20 ERA in five appearances. Small started three games with the Bucks, while totaling 16.1 innings of work.
