GBR.com: What drew you to MT?
KA: I like the atmosphere and the coaches. I can see where I can play here and where I fit in. I like the team. The campus is nice and so is the city.
GBR.com: What is the biggest difference between Murfreesboro and your hometown?
KA: The weather. That's about it for me. It's a lot cooler for me. Even though it's 90-something degrees here, it still feels a lot cooler.
GBR.com: How has being here early in the summer helped you transition to college life?
KA: It has been kind of easy. Our teammates have helped us out a lot, being able to get from our apartments to campus. We always have transportation. It's easier with nobody here yet. Since it's just the athletes here, it's easier to find where we are going. We help each other in getting to our classes and making sure we are up. We always text each other to make sure we're up on time. They've been very supportive.
GBR.com: Have you declared a major?
KA: I'm thinking about special education, but I'm not 100 percent sure yet.
GBR.com: Is there anyone here who has helped you on or off the court in transitioning to college?
KA: Charity. Every morning she texts me to make sure I'm up. We help each other out.
GBR.com: How do you think your high school state championships and your AAU experience will help you adjust to college basketball?
KA: It has given me a winning attitude. I love winning, and I know this team is all about winning and that's what Coach Insell wants to do. One of his big goals is to get to the Elite 8, at least, and we made it to the Big Dance last year, so we are trying to get there again. With the incoming freshmen, hopefully we can do something to help. That's why we came here.
GBR.com: Do you have any hidden talents that not a lot of people may know about?
KA: I like to draw. I like art. I'm really interested in different kinds of art. A lot of people don't know that, but I like to do that in my free time.
GBR.com: I've noticed you wear some pretty unique socks, when did that start?
KA: Ever since high school our coach let us wear any kind of socks. We didn't have to match with our socks; we just had to match with our game shoes and our uniforms. Last year, and most of my high school years, we just wore our own style. I brought that up to Tennessee. I love socks.
GBR.com: Who would you say has the best singing voice on the team?
KA: I haven't even heard anyone sing yet, so I don't even know.
GBR.com: Are you excited about the upcoming trip to Costa Rica?
KA: I am. It's going to be a new experience. It will be my first time out of the states. According to our schedule, we're going to have a lot of fun. Playing the competition is going to be fun, so it's going to be a new experience for us.
GBR.com: What are you most looking forward to as a part of the Blue Raider program?
KA: Being a part of a winning environment. Everyone has a great mindset. Everyone is supportive. I feel as if we have a great opportunity here as incoming freshmen. I'm looking forward to getting better and having a great support system here.
